Introduction

In this proposal, we aim to outline the scope and focus of our research concerning the selected organization, along with identifying a key organizational problem that warrants investigation. Our team’s role within the organization will be clarified, alongside a preliminary research question to guide the inquiry.

Overview of the Organization and Our Team’s Role

The selected organization for this research is XYZ Corporation, a mid-sized technology firm specializing in software development and digital solutions. Founded in 2010, XYZ Corporation has established a reputation for innovative products and a dynamic work environment. Our team, composed of five members, is tasked with conducting research on internal organizational processes, with particular focus on improving project management practices and employee engagement strategies.

Within the organization, our team acts as an internal consultancy group, collaborating with management and staff to assess current practices, identify areas for improvement, and propose well-informed solutions. Our role involves stakeholder interviews, data collection, analysis of organizational workflows, and developing recommendations aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and fostering a positive organizational culture.

Preliminary Problem Statement

The core research question guiding our investigation is: "How can XYZ Corporation enhance its project management processes to improve project delivery times and stakeholder satisfaction?"

This question is designed to be specific enough to guide targeted research, yet broad enough to encompass various facets of project management, including communication, resource allocation, and workflow integration.

Narrative Description of the Organizational Problem

Despite XYZ Corporation’s reputation for innovation, it faces significant challenges in consistently delivering projects on time and within budget. Recent internal surveys and project audits reveal issues such as miscommunication among teams, inadequate resource planning, and delayed decision-making processes. These issues contribute to project delays, budget overruns, and decreased stakeholder satisfaction, thereby affecting the organization’s overall performance and reputation.

The problem is compounded by the rapid growth of the company over recent years, which has led to increased complexity in managing multiple simultaneous projects. Additionally, there appears to be a disconnect between the project management practices currently in place and the evolving needs of the workforce and organizational goals.

Addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive understanding of current project management workflows, identification of bottlenecks, and development of strategies to streamline processes. This research aims to analyze these underlying issues systematically, propose actionable improvements, and ultimately support XYZ Corporation in achieving more reliable and efficient project delivery.

Conclusion

This proposal sets the foundation for a focused research effort that seeks to understand and remedy the organizational issues related to project management at XYZ Corporation. By investigating these challenges in depth, our team hopes to contribute valuable insights and practical recommendations that will enhance organizational performance and stakeholder satisfaction.
