Start your presentation with your purpose. The assignment was to find a community event, program or business to benefit your community in a positive way. An example might be to turn a vacant lot in your neighborhood into a safe playground for children and their families to enjoy. This may require research into how the community can acquire the land, who’s property is it, are back taxes owed, can this be done safely as a benefit to the neighborhood? As in all businesses, money is a factor.
You will need to provide options on how to pay for any items needed. Using the vacant lot, I would need to do a property search, talk to the owner, see if they would be willing to donate or sell at a small fee, price equipment, arrange a volunteer list, plan a meeting and so forth. The main idea of this project should be, “How can I make a difference?”
What I will be grading on: Time No less than 4 minutes and no more than 10 minutes, Slides Quantity 8-12, Quality Using tips or Chapter 12 (too wordy, unclear, spelling, punctuation, etc.), Order This would be if your slides are in the same order as your speech, Flow, Originality Anything done to be different or to draw attention to the presentation. Presentation No points are deducted for nervousness, please practice before your presentation so you will be more comfortable when presenting.
