You are the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for an innovative internet-based company similar to Amazon.com, with gross revenues exceeding $35 million annually. The company is undergoing a merger with a multinational firm of equal size, and you are tasked with developing a comprehensive IT project plan within 60 days to facilitate the integration of systems, databases, and infrastructure. The company is expanding from one to three floors within six months, requiring a redesign of its infrastructure to support increased operational needs.

The company currently employs operational systems and relational databases but plans to expand into data warehousing. All hardware and software must be redesigned, choosing among hosted, on-site, or hybrid solutions. The new infrastructure should integrate various technologies from different vendors and align with industry best practices. The CEO displays keen interest in cloud computing and virtualization but has concerns regarding security; therefore, you must implement stringent security protocols. The current staff of 25 employees is expected to grow to 65 post-merger. This growth necessitates an updated, scalable information system capable of supporting increased data and user demands.

Its business ecosystem includes third-party marketplace vendors, digital content delivery, and subscription services like Prime.
