Social justice relates to equitable distribution of healthcare resources and ensuring that marginalized populations receive appropriate care. These concepts are vital because they address foundational issues that influence health outcomes and health equity. For example, healthcare reform initiatives like the Affordable Care Act (Obama, 2010) aim to expand coverage, reduce costs, and improve quality of care, directly impacting public health outcomes by making healthcare accessible and affordable to diverse populations. Social justice, on the other hand, underscores the ethical obligation to eliminate disparities caused by socioeconomic, racial, or geographical factors (Braveman & Gruskin, 2003). Recognizing the importance of these concepts allows future health professionals to advocate for policies that promote health equity and systemic improvements.

In my future career, I plan to integrate these principles by advocating for policies that prioritize access and fairness in healthcare delivery. For example, understanding the barriers faced by underserved populations will guide my efforts to support community health initiatives and equitable resource allocation. Moreover, I will utilize my knowledge of healthcare reform to participate in policy development aimed at creating sustainable and inclusive health systems.
