This reflection will explore what I have learned from these assessments, any potential concerns regarding my future health, insights gained from the college health assessment, and overall strategies I might employ to enhance my well-being moving forward.

Reflection on Family Health History

Reviewing my family health history has revealed several important clues about potential genetic predispositions that could influence my future health outcomes. From the information I collected, I learned that certain members of my family have struggled with chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and hypertension. These health issues appear to be prevalent across multiple generations, suggesting a hereditary component that might elevate my own risk for similar conditions. For example, my father has hypertension and a history of high cholesterol levels, and both of his parents suffered from heart disease. Additionally, there are cases of diabetes on my mother’s side.

One of the most eye-opening revelations was understanding how lifestyle factors, in conjunction with genetics, can compound health risks. Although my family members' histories point to potential vulnerabilities, they also highlight the importance of lifestyle choices in disease development. For instance, some relatives maintained active lifestyles and healthy diets, which appeared to mitigate their genetic risks somewhat.
