Research Paper Using Word 2010: This Assignment Has T 928395
Research Paper Using Word 2010this Assignment Has Two Goals
This assignment has two goals: 1) have students increase their understanding of the concept of Protecting Personal Information (PPI) and other ethical issues related to the use of information technology through research, and 2) learn to correctly use the tools and techniques within Word to format a research paper including using Word 2010/2013's citation tools. These skills will be valuable throughout students’ academic career. The paper will require a title page, NO abstract, three to four full pages of content with incorporation of a minimum of 3 external resources from credible sources, and a Works Cited/Reference page. Three pages of content means 3 full pages, to the bottom of the third page with text on page 4.
Note that submitting a paper that is less than three pages may affect your grade on several rubric items, including page length and several content items. Given a short, underdeveloped paper’s impact on several items in the rubric, a student submitting a paper less than three full pages is unlikely to score higher than a ‘C’ on this assignment. A list of topics from which students can choose is provided below. Wikipedia and similar websites are NOT creditable sources. Blogs and discussion groups are not creditable sources. The course textbook cannot be used as a source for the research paper. No more than 10% of the paper may be in the form of a direct citation from an external source. Topics for Research Paper include:
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- Social Engineering
- Employee Monitoring
- Information Privacy
- Electronic Medical Records
- Biometrics (in terms of ethical and privacy issues)
- Identity Theft
- Use of Cookies
- Privacy Laws related to Information Technology use
The paper must be well-organized, clearly written in a style appropriate for college level work, and grammatically correct with no spelling errors. All grammar, verb tenses, pronouns, spelling, punctuation, and writing competency should be verified through spell-check and proofreading. Construct formal, impersonal language; avoid contractions and personal pronouns. Use third person perspective and formal tone throughout.
Paper For Above instruction
Title Page
The research paper will begin with a cover page including the title of the paper and the student's name. The title should accurately reflect the chosen topic, such as "Ethical and Privacy Considerations of Biometrics in Information Technology."
Introduction
The paper opens with an introduction defining the chosen topic related to information technology and ethical issues, emphasizing the importance of protecting personal information (PPI). It should state the purpose of the paper—to examine ethical concerns, current trends, and ways individuals and organizations are addressing the issue.
Body
The body of the paper should be organized into sections discussing specific issues related to the chosen topic. For example, if selecting "Biometrics," discuss ethical concerns such as privacy invasion, misuse, and potential for discrimination. Include current trends where biometrics are being implemented in security systems, and explore how organizations balance technological benefits against privacy rights.
Incorporate at least three credible external sources from peer-reviewed journals, industry reports, or government publications. Use Word 2010/2013's citation tool to cite sources correctly in APA format. Paraphrase and summarize the sources, with no more than 10% direct quotations. Each section should include in-text citation to support claims.
Discussion on Ethical Issues and Impact
Analyze the ethical considerations surrounding the topic, such as privacy violations, consent, surveillance, and data security. Explore how these issues impact individuals' rights and organizational responsibilities. Discuss legal frameworks like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which regulate PPI protection.
Current Trends and Mitigation Measures
Describe current technological trends, such as biometric authentication, encryption, and privacy-preserving algorithms. Also, include organizational policies and legislation designed to mitigate ethical concerns, such as data anonymization and strict access controls.
Conclusion
Summarize the key points discussed, reaffirming the importance of balancing technological advancements with ethical responsibilities. Emphasize that ongoing vigilance and policy development are essential to protect personal information effectively.
