Research Topic 4 Research Topic Date :10/22/17 Research Topic The topic that I have selected for my persuasive writing is “Should vehicles (cars, trucks, vans, SUVs) be required to have backup cameras?†There are several reasons as to why I have chosen this particular topic. One of the reasons is about the number of pedestrians including kids that got hit every day by reversing vehicles. Another reason is the many avoidable accidents involving one or more vehicles. With back up cameras, drivers will have a better rear-view experience that will greatly reduce these accident cases. Thesis Statement: Around the world and especially in the U.S, drivers have difficulties seeing behind them when reversing out of a tight spot.

Lots of avoidable accidents take place every year when drivers back over a child, pets or even elder people in a driveway or parking space.(Vinnem, 2014). The reversing camera can be a major safety tool that can prevent these costly accidents.(Howard. B, April 2014). The back camera gives drivers alternative eye behind their vehicles. The scope of the Research: This paper points out the use of the back camera by vehicles, the most appropriate technique of minimizing back over accidents.

The paper will be emphasizing on the proposal by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on a policy of saving at least 60 lives each year by ruling that all cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans be fitted with rear-view cameras. Characteristics of the Audience: The audience will comprise of vehicle owners, drivers, manufacturers and the team from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This follows the current report that shows that about 15000 injuries and a farther 250 deaths occur each year as a result of back over results (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 2016). Research Questions and Plan: The result will make use of information obtained from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding the accidents that have occurred from backovers.

The paper will also interview some of the victims and perpetrators of these back over cameras to get some vital information. The questions to be answered in this paper are 1) Does rear-view camera improve driver’s visibility at the back? 2) Can the rear-view camera prevent some of the avoidable back over accidents? In Offshore Risk Assessment vol 1. (pp. ). Springer London. Assignment 1 Research Topics with Explanation Assignment 1 Research Topics with Explanation English /15/17 The 3 topics I pick are: Should all states require motorcyclists and passengers to wear helmets? Should vehicles (cars, trucks, vans, SUVs) be required to have backup cameras? Should all U.S. students be required to take four years of foreign language in high school ((Should all states require motorcyclists and passengers to wear helmets?)) From seeing many accidents from working in a hospital you see many accidents but a lot of accidents involving single drivers and double riders on motorcycles. that are little damage from wearing helmets.

But then you do got those people that leave a bar drunk on a motorcycle, or not paying attention to what they are doing that don’t wear helmets that end up in bad shape of being brain damaged or dead because they didn’t want to spend that money on helmet and could be paralyzed shoulders and down on their body. Because of them not wearing a helmet it takes 2.5 seconds to put on that helmet and save yourself from body damage that could happen when you’re on that motorcycle taking that ride that could be your last ride. So yes states should make it mandatory for you to wear helmets when riding on the motorcycle. (Should vehicles (cars, trucks, vans, SUVs) be required to have backup cameras?) I believe that all cars should have them its beneficial to you because you know what is behind you even though you have mirrors on your car or truck you still have those danger spots to were accidents lead to a kid getting hit, or smashing in to something that you didn’t know what was back there because you didn’t do that vehicle walk around.

On an average week there is up to 50 kids being hit by cars some that land fatal to not fatal in that week but if you really look at that number and think. What could I do not to have that happen. So yes I do think back up cameras should be on car for safety reasoning I have seen many that are fatal that get life flited to Akron children’s hospital, or Cleveland Clinic. (Should all U.S. students be required to take four years of foreign language in high school) This is one I don’t agree on. Only because I was one of the kids with a special IEP (Individualized Education Program) some things we couldn’t master the class at and it was put in to other wording for us to understand what we are trying to learn.

My school didn’t make it mandatory till after I graduated in 2009 and you must take 2 courses of Spanish or French to graduate. But really if you take what you know now and apply it to today’s work force. I have never needed any of those languages. But If you go and travel to those places where that language is that is when I think you should use it. Like here in the use you learn English. If you want to live here and stay here you should know English and speak it.
