Scarface: Neither Glorify Nor Condemn The Life Of Gangster ✓ Solved
Scarface neither glorify nor condemn the life of gangster
Scarface neither glorify nor condemn the life of gangster. It was a great movie demonstrates the complex life of a gangster. One of the best phrase of a director is he or she is a great story teller, and movies and most of entertainments are about escapism, people can escape from his or her daily life and dream or experience the things that they could never do in the real life. In the movie Scarface, Tony is a cocky gangster who is “living his lifeâ€. He laughs after the gun fight, sleep with beautify women, smiles even when he was investigated. During depression, when people are broken and helpless, people wants to seek the freedom Tony has, they want to be like Tony. However, it doesn’t mean the movie is glorifying the life of gangster. People loves the lifestyle of Tony because they saw more in Tony’s freedom, less in Tony’s suffering. There were numerous times people tried to shoot Tony before he exits the door, at the end, Tony was helpless and broken too.
So accusing movie Scarface of glorifying life of gangster is wrong. Because human nature is fascinating in the life of Tony. In modern world, look how many people love Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Is their lifestyle a good example of educating children? No. But people love their lifestyle, fight for money, cocky, have fancy cloth, “living their livesâ€. Therefore, movie Scarface is not glorifying the life of gangster. Movie shows mainly the flashlight of Tony’s life, if the movie is trying to condemn the life of gangster, they would show more suffering or the chaos in the neighborhood. The production code added the condemnation of gangster but as a whole movie, Scarface was definitely not condemning life of gangster. We are restricted by the moralities, ethics, and responsibilities where a character like Tony fulfil the life we couldn’t have in real life, escapism.
It’s not wrong to love movies like Scarface, and I believe Scarface is to serve the purpose of escapism rather than sending the message of glorify or condemn the life of gangster.
