I am a high school graduate, and I have been working odd jobs since then. I was not sure what I wanted to do once I graduated high school, so I took some time off to work and figure out exactly what it is that I want to do for my career. I have done everything from retail to customer service to summer camp counseling. Finally, I have made the decision to go to school and become a Healthcare Data Analyst.

As I work toward my degree in Health Care Administration at Stafford University, most of my time is consumed by schoolwork and keeping up with my full-time job. Currently, I work as a paraprofessional in an elementary school. I work with students of all ages and abilities. With this job, I’ve learned a lot about what it means to be patient, and I’ve cultivated my passion for helping others. Also, juggling my schoolwork and day job has given me great practice in multi-tasking and prioritization.

My Goals

My most immediate long-term goal is to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration. I know it’s going to be a lot of hard work, but I also want to graduate with at least a 3.5 grade point average. By achieving this GPA, I can be confident in my knowledge of everything that has been taught, and I will feel more comfortable in my job search. If I can do those two things throughout my academic career, it will put me that much closer to my ultimate goal of becoming a Health Care Data Analyst.

I would like to go into this field because health care is extremely important in our daily lives. It is also something we legally need to have. Helping people and improving their quality of care is exactly what I want to do with my career.

How I Will Get There

I know that studying and working full-time will present many challenges, including completing my schoolwork on time and giving each assignment my full attention and effort. If I’m going to have an overall GPA of at least 3.5, I will need to give it my all. One of the ways I can help make sure I am able to do this is to set aside time within my schedule for my schoolwork. For example, I am already planning on making a few personal sacrifices to ensure I don’t overload myself. Instead of playing in the volleyball league that I normally do, I’m going to use that time for my schoolwork. Volleyball will be there when I’m done with my degree! This way, I can get the next week’s schoolwork done by the previous Sunday night.

Another thing that I’m anticipating is how long it will take to complete my degree. My goal is to complete this degree by Spring of 2024. To do this, I will take at least 2 courses per quarter. With the time management skills I’m implementing, this seems challenging, but doable. Overall, I am very excited for the future and eager to take all of the steps I need to become a Healthcare Data Analyst.
