Student’s Last Name 1 HAMADI1 Journey into the undead During spring break of 2014 a bunch of sophomore friends Tommy, Jane Ali, Yazeed, and Liqaa decided to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. They rented out a camper truck from Ali and Yazeed Land Lord Mrs. Harris a friendly old lady who told the boys to "bring patsy back in one piece" the only reason she let them have the camper truck was because it had been a while since it had been driven because her husband Mr. Harris with whom she took road trips around America and Canada with had passed on a few years before. For the next two weeks the camper would serve as the five friends very squeezing living quarters and their only mode of transport.
On the last day before they left their campus they stocked up all the coolers they had with ice and all the food they could carry from their fridges this was meant to cut down on costs, Ali always the paranoid one carried a Swill knife which he said was for any emergencies that came up but Yazeed his closest friend knew it was Alis’ way of making himself feel in control as he always wanted to be in control of his environment. They set off for the road on Wednesday the first of February so that they could get back by Friday the 13th in time for Liqaa’s birthday. All along the way they were listening to various Cassettes they found in the glove compartment bon Scotts highway to hell it was repeated many times by the traveling team, they each took turns at driving the camper truck and they made several stops before getting on their way to the Canyon.
Because of not been used the vehicle developed mechanical troubles and leading to this delays, when they got near the Canyon a bald white eagle was on the middle of the road and Tommy who saw it too later swerved and landed in a ditch where all of them passed out from being impacted by the hit. Waking up the five found themselves in a shed like structure in what seemed like a scrap yard Tommy the self-appointed leader of the group asked “what happened here why are we hear and is everybody alright?” the others just stared at him like lost sheep and then all run towards the door and windows to find out where they were their phones were no use as they had no signal. The shed like structure they were locked in it smelled of oil and car parts also it had piles of newspaper everywhere. Liqaa, a neat freak used all her baby wipes rubbing surfaces and clearing sweat from her face as it was hot in that shed.
Just as about Tommy was to kick open the door it opened and in came two big men and a thinly one, with rusty chains they spoke in a Southern drawl to each other and circled the five friends in the room Tommy, Ali and Yazeed tried to fighting them off but they were overpowered and knocked out by the two burly men the third one was busy filming the confrontation on an old camcorder and he made funny laughs like those of a hyena unlike the other men him he was skinny and looked diseased. The next time the five they woke uprtesy of some cold water they found themselves in a cold and dark cemetery and Liqaa immediately started screaming, she was slapped on the face with a shovel to keep her quiet and she passed out the five were buried in some quick mud deep inside the cemetery and around them there were tomb stones and crosses they ach had nooses tied to their necks. Ali was the first to say he could not feel his legs before one of the burly men brought a light and it is then that they saw they were buried in mud and the only thing holding them from sinking was the rope tied round their necks.
Some loud gothic rock music played somewhere in the distance and the heavily tattooed men who had kidnapped the five came back with about 10 more men and women who looked more menacing than the original three, the sickly looking camera man was still recording his video. In the filthy pit of quick mud, the five friends were soaking wet ,numb and now freezing and did not feel anything from their necks down wards , after about 20 minutes of ignoring them even though they surrounded the mud hole, the kidnappers finally spoke to the five when Yazeed in a voice of desperation shouted and asked them “ who are you and what do you want from us you sick fucks!!!!!” He got hit with a spade for his insulting them and the biggest of the two kidnappers stepped forward and addressed the friends telling them: “You want to know who we are? We are the Aryan brotherhood and we mean to spill some blood this night because we seek impurity in you five isn’t that right my brothers and sisters” at this point the rest of the menacing gang gathered near the pit howled and screamed as they smoked and passed around what seemed like Marijuana. Tommy asked the leader to at least let them know why they were being subjected to this cruel treatment and they did nothing wrong, and he answered because you are impure and we plan to purge our land from impurities” and the howling continued even getting louder. Liqaa who was a trained paramilitary back in her home country became lucid and was told by one of the female members of the group “welcome back to the party snow bean you did not miss a thing” and the others burst out in laughter.
Once she was well aware of her surrounding she hatched a plan and told the kidnappers that if they thought they were the superior race they should let them go and fight them, but the Aryan leader had a better idea since they outnumbered them 2 to one they would let them free in the dark and misty cemetery and they would be hunted down like “the dogs they were” Liqaa agreed knowing she was the best chance her friends had of getting out of this dark and twisted mess alive. Letting them go each of them was given a metal pipe for self-defense and they were given a head start of ten minutes according their leader to: “run as far and hide as deep as they could because as the leader shouted at them as they run “the call of purity was calling out their mixed race names”.
At this point Tommy was shaking ire-controllably It was clear hypothermia had set in after rubbing him for a while in a hurdle with th others Liqaa chose a vantage point that was raised from the ground this turned out to be an aging tomb stone hat looked as if it had been seeing better days and she could somehow see the length of the cemetery in the dark , and it was clear to her there was no way of getting out of this place maybe “getting under it” she chuckled a weary laugh and her friends did not share in her dark humor. Suddenly an idea struck her. In Paramilitary school back in Kuwait they were taught how to camouflage themselves and there was this one particular maneuvering it was called the “dummy and mummify routine” it would need creating a dummy trail for the enemy to follow and then to conceal themselves from site until danger was over, while Liqaa she was thinking out loud their time was over and the Aryan brotherhood had started following their trail in the chilly cold night none of them could see very well so as instincts told them to run Liqaa made sure she stayed ahead of them so as to lead them in a single file to avoid capture.
Ali fell into an open grave as they run and twisted his ankle slowing them down. still they pushed on. Liqaa wanted to create a cold trail for the Aryan monsters she wanted to run her friends in circles before covering their tracks and disappearing into one of the many tombs in the cemetery, but she had yet to find one that would accommodate the five of them, just as she was thinking Tommy ran into a statue of a baby angel in a dislocated his shoulder he cried out in pain which pin pointed their position to the Aryan brotherhood who came howling and screaming with dogs and bright torches Liqaa had to think very first or risk capture and death of her and her friends. While on their steady run they got to a wire fence that was at the border of the park and the cemetery Liqaa immediately asked the boys to use all their strength to cut the wires using the metal bars Tommy was put as a look out as his good arm was dislocated, in writing pain they made a hole big enough to fit a dog, when Yazeed tried to crawl through in desperation Liqaa held him back and gestured to a nearby tomb after they trampled on th grass near the opening they left their metals and doubled back to one of the tombs near the fence an in here their each got into crypts that lined the wall of this commercial tomb and they lay as still as the dead hoping, praying that the brotherhood monsters would not find them.
