[Surname] 1 Students Name Professors Name Course Number Date The Explosion The sun lounged on the sky like a flashlight focused on our heads. We stood there waiting for our turn to make the payment and walk into the stadium. The tension of the game was building up, behind us at the parking area. There was a throng of fans making scenes that would have wowed any five year old. Too bad I was not five anymore.
And all I could think of were the seats that I would find. I had planned to seat on the lower deck just behind the goalkeepers net to catch the best view of the game. The line was long and all that could just be but a dream, if I didn't get inside the stadium in the next five minutes. I was about three hundred people away from the ticket counter when I heard a loud explosion. I was halfway down on the ground when I heard screaming and shouting from fans all over the area.
From where I lay down, I could see two children stuck in a vehicle and screaming to be let out. There was smoke all over. The helter-skelter that emerged after the explosion got all of us confused, not knowing what happened or what to do. I rushed to let the children out of the car. It was a red sedan with flickering lights and honking horns just like all cars had ended up being after the explosion.
The doors were stuck. The children were locked in and the terror in their eyes and their screams that could be audible from inside the car, got me frightened thinking what would happen to them if another explosion were to occur around the car. I struggled with the doorknobs while at the same time, trying to tell the kids to open from the inside. They were about five-year-olds but this experience had turned them into two-year-olds. They were terror-stricken and all they could do is scream and bang on the windows of the car.
In the moment of trying to break the windows of the car with my fist, three gentlemen showed up and joined me. One tall gentleman with round-rimmed spectacles tried talking with the kids and calming them down as I went on with my attempts to break the car windows. The other gentleman ended up using a stone to smash the windows of the car and grabbed one of the children out of the car as I went for the other. It was a desperate situation indeed. We grabbed the kids out of the car and rushed them to an entrance of the stadium where police and medical responders were streaming in from.
As we stood there, the kids being checked up by the medics we stood watching the scenes that had just transpired. The whole area, from a distance, was light with smoke and the sound of ambulances was all over the place. We made known our names to each other as we walked to an emergency exit from the scene and went as far as exchanging contacts as we promised to follow up on the kids if they were reunited with their guardians.
