SWOT Analysis Carmel Valley is one of the newest San Diego communities that has developed into a place where people can work, live and enjoy themselves due to the community planning groups. In other words, the main aim of community planning is to develop the local economy, maximize the use of local resources, creation of jobs, and many more. However, the Carmel Valley has gradually developed into a better place because of the master plan of the community. The largest economic development of the area revolves around the transportation, land-use, military, education sectors, recreation areas, tourism, small economic development like shops and restaurants, and large economic developments like attraction areas and office buildings.
Transportation is one of the main factors that influence the economy of Carmel Valley. Access to San Diego county is what influences the commercial center of the Carmel Valley suit for hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and corporate offices. Good transport infrastructure like roads that give people in and out of their working places like offices, a lot of customers can access to the goods and services that are being offered in the restaurants, hotel, and shops in the Carmel valley which tends to heavily influence the economy of Carmel valley and San Diego area at large. Secondly, another factor that shapes the economy of the Carmel valley through community planning is land use. A lot of the lot in the Carmel Valley has been converted into residential areas, public buildings construction, institutions like educational institutions like schools.
Carmel Valley has gone through some gradual changes into more useful land. Initially, the area was occupied with military camps, horse farms, dairy farms, agriculture, and other animal raring practices. The first houses were built in the year 1983 before the area acquired its Carmel valley name. Today the areas turn out to be more attractive to the families because of the large houses and award-winning schools in the area. Some part of the Carmel Valley is also occupied with recreational areas like community recreation Centre and nearby beaches for tourists.
SWOT is a strategic management and planning technique used by organizations to realize the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to project planning. Carmel Valley has some strength features that contribute directly to the quality of life in the neighborhood that should be preserved. There are some the weaknesses like poor communication that detract from the quality of life in the neighborhood of the Carmel valley that should be addressed. To complete the four matrices of the analysis, there are also opportunities and threats in the Carmel valley that can become strengths in the neighborhood is enhanced and also at the same time, the valleys have some external threats that could become weaknesses if not addressed.

Weaknesses. · The Carmel valley lacks free spaces in the compact urban fabrics · There are no signs of any healthcare facilities in the Carmel valley · Poor communication in the valley since there are no signs of radio or any communication devices. Opportunities. · Health care, developing a centralized and seamless system in the Carmel valley will be an opportunity that could utilize existing facilities. · Tourism, there are many opportunities to increase tourism because of the beaches at Torrey and Delmar’s, neighborhood parks, and undeveloped coastal mesa. · The high altitude of the valley could be a training Centre for a marathon and even for crop specialization.
Threats. · Water-loss, there are high chances of drought in the valley since the early agricultural practices were only drought-tolerant crops. · Isolation, there are large distances between the outlying areas of the valley and the Centre of the valley. · Lack of communication, Carmel valley does not have any access to radios.
