In order to complete the assignment, you will pick one psychological skills strategy (ex: self-talk, goal setting, mindfulness meditation, imagery), use credible resources to create a plan for implementing it, implement it, and reflect on your experience (note: you must implement the strategy for at least 2 weeks). You will write a 1-2 page report of your experience including the following sections in the report: 1) psychological skills strategy and purpose, 2) implementation plan, 3) reflection (What was your experience like? What impact did the strategy have? What did you learn from implementing the strategy?), and 4) resource list (in APA format). Selection of Psychological Skill and Its Purpose
For this project, I selected mindfulness meditation as the psychological skill to implement. Mindfulness meditation involves training attention and awareness to foster a non-judgmental acceptance of present-moment experiences, which can reduce anxiety, improve concentration, and promote emotional regulation (Kabat-Zinn, 1994). Reflection on the Experience

Future Directions
Building on this experience, future efforts could involve integrating mindfulness training into broader mental skills programs, tailoring interventions to individual athlete needs, and exploring its effects on specific performance metrics. Additionally, combining mindfulness with other psychological strategies like goal setting or self-talk may have synergistic benefits. Continued exploration and practice could also focus on increasing session duration or frequency, and investigating long-term impacts on athletic performance and well-being.
