The paper (8 to 10 pages) should draw from existing leadership and leadership development theories, as well as the course readings, discussions, and materials. You will submit your paper in the Week Seven Assignment folder (drop box) on or prior to Sunday (midnight) of Week Seven.

Your paper should address the following topics:

1. An ideal leader

Determine: In your opinion, what are the qualities of an ideal leader?

Describe: The characteristics, competencies, skills, and traits that an ideal leader possesses and why. For example, you might consider a well-known leader who has positively impacted and influenced others around the world, or someone in your local community who is making a difference. Reflect on these traits and their significance.

2. Becoming a Leader

Assess: From your perspective, what does it take to become a leader? Consider aspects such as training, education, networking, experience, character development, mentoring, etc., and explain why these are important.

3. My Personal Leadership Development — Where are you now?

Writing in the first person, evaluate your current personal leadership development. Describe yourself as a leader by addressing:

  • Your strengths
  • Your weaknesses
  • Where you aim to be in the future

4. Analysis

Identify one or two areas of continuous improvement. Discuss how you plan to work on these areas to enhance your leadership capabilities.

5. Synthesis
