My experience involved organizing a community health awareness campaign aimed at increasing diabetes screening among local residents. This project, although modest in scale, encapsulated the essential phases of project life cycle and exemplifies the necessity of applying core project management principles to ensure success.
The initiating phase commenced with defining the project scope and objectives, which was centered on raising awareness and facilitating free diabetes screenings at local community centers. This phase involved stakeholder identification, chiefly community members, local health authorities, volunteers, and sponsors. Conducting a needs assessment via surveys and community meetings helped clarify the project's purpose and determine resource requirements. The planning phase included creating a detailed work breakdown structure, scheduling activities, budgeting, and risk management planning. Tasks such as securing a venue, recruiting volunteers, arranging medical supplies, and coordinating with health professionals formed the core activities. Tools like Gantt charts and risk assessment matrices guided this stage. During execution, I coordinated with volunteers to set up screening stations, disseminated publicity materials, and managed event logistics.
