In this analysis, I have chosen to examine the local community hospital, Evergreen Medical Center, to explore its internal and external barriers that may impact its mission, vision, and values. Understanding these barriers is essential for strategic planning and ensuring the organization aligns with its goals to provide quality healthcare services.

Internal barriers within Evergreen Medical Center include resource limitations such as staffing shortages and outdated technology. These challenges hinder the hospital's ability to deliver timely and effective patient care, directly affecting its mission to provide accessible and high-quality healthcare. Additionally, organizational resistance to change and bureaucratic inefficiencies can impede implementing innovative procedures or adopting new technology, which are necessary for staying competitive and meeting evolving patient needs.

Externally, Evergreen Medical Center faces challenges from healthcare policy changes, insurance reimbursement fluctuations, and increasing patient demand, especially in underserved areas. These external factors create financial strain and operational uncertainties, complicating efforts to fulfill the hospital’s vision of community-wide health improvement. Moreover, competition from other healthcare providers and the rise of telemedicine services influence patient choices and threaten traditional hospital roles.

It is crucial to understand and articulate the characteristics of an organization before seeking employment because doing so ensures alignment with personal values and professional goals. Recognizing organizational culture, mission, and strategic priorities helps prospective employees determine if they will thrive and contribute meaningfully. A clear understanding also enhances job satisfaction, fosters effective communication, and supports long-term commitment, all of which are vital for career growth and organizational success.
