It provides a foundation for ongoing operations, fostering trust among stakeholders and allowing the organization to reliably deliver products or services (Daft, 2018). Conversely, organizational innovation involves implementing new ideas, processes, or products to improve performance, respond to environmental shifts, or gain competitive advantages (Tushman & O'Reilly, 1996). Innovation requires an organization to embrace change and uncertainty, often challenging traditional practices to foster growth and renewal.
A real-life example illustrating the balance between stability and innovation is Apple Inc. Under the leadership of Steve Jobs, Apple maintained stability by consistently prioritizing high-quality design, user experience, and a strong brand identity. Simultaneously, Apple promoted innovation by pioneering the development of revolutionary products such as the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, transforming the consumer electronics industry (Isaacson, 2011). This strategic combination allowed Apple to sustain its market position while continuously innovating, ensuring long-term growth and competitiveness.
