Welcome Back! Remember this? Which parts have you done? What comes NEXT? The DISCUSSION!!!

So, what do you think the Discussion section of a Research Paper is for? So, what do you think the Discussion section of a Research Paper is for? So, what do you think the Discussion section of a Research Paper is for? Definitely to “discuss” something! So, what do you think the Discussion section of a Research Paper is for?

To “discuss” something! Varies depending on the course you are taking and the requirements of the professor. So, what do you think the Discussion section of a Research Paper is for? To find a problem to research and form a recommendation based on evidence. What have you done already? KG 604’s TASK: Find a problem, Research, Form a Recommendation, How was it achieved? What have you done already?

Articles were found in Google or database. Research articles (3-4) found through library databases. That is what we will do today!! The basis of KG 604’s Discussion will be your Recommendation, but you must establish your Points of Discussion. How? You must establish your POINTS of DISCUSSION. In other courses, Points of Discussion might relate to a theory, framework, or course concept linking specific parts of a theory or framework to your research topic. You must establish your POINTS of DISCUSSION. How?

The Discussion section of a paper is where you can showcase your skills learned in the course, including in-depth in-text citation control and analysis. You must establish your POINTS of DISCUSSION. How? The points should logically connect to your research problem and evidence.

Remember this from Week 3? (“No way! That was FOREVER ago!” you say? No worries! Let’s review!) Think as a reader: What makes sense to include in the Discussion section of your paper? What is already covered in your literature review? Discuss. How would you approach this? Use the framework you already did in your literature review. Discuss how you would apply it based on solutions you read in articles. Let’s put it into action!

Paper For Above instruction

The discussion section of a research paper plays a crucial role in interpreting and contextualizing the findings within the broader scope of the research problem. Its primary purpose is to analyze the significance of the results, relate them to existing literature, and provide a coherent argument that supports the research's implications. In the context of KG 604, the discussion should center around integrating evidence-based solutions, synthesizing research findings, and offering well-founded recommendations that address the identified problem. To effectively craft this section, students must first restate the problem clearly, identify affected populations, and specify where the issue occurs—all supported by citations from their research articles or news sources.

Following the restatement of the problem, the discussion should explore existing solutions or interventions that have demonstrated efficacy. Utilizing research articles and credible organizational reports, students should detail evidence-based policies, programs, or initiatives that target their research problem. This foundation serves as a basis for proposing tailored recommendations. Critically, students need to analyze similarities and differences between the populations involved in their research and those served by the existing solutions. Such a comparison ensures that recommendations are contextually appropriate and culturally sensitive.

The next step involves connecting the selected solutions to the specific research problem. This requires a detailed explanation of how core components of a known effective intervention could be adapted or scaled to address the current issue. For example, if a policy has successfully reduced disparities in one population, students should justify how similar strategies could work in their context, considering demographic, geographic, or socioeconomic factors. Citing current literature throughout this process not only corroborates their arguments but also demonstrates mastery of in-text citation skills learned in the course.

In summary, the discussion section for KG 604 must methodically revisit the problem, substantiate the relevance with recent data, evaluate and select effective evidence-based solutions, and then articulate a coherent, research-informed recommendation tailored to the target population. Clarity, critical analysis, and appropriate citations are key to transforming research findings into actionable insights that contribute meaningfully to solving real-world issues.
