Kenya’s difficulties with fluency were primarily caused by limited exposure to reading practice and insufficient instructional strategies that support automatic word recognition.

Response to Intervention (RTI) was not helpful in Kenya’s situation because of inadequate implementation, lack of resources, and contextual challenges that hindered its effectiveness.

The author used a strategy of engaging students in Reader’s Theater to improve vocabulary knowledge, which is effective because it encourages repeated practice, enhances pronunciation, and builds confidence in reading aloud.

There is a stigma about rereading texts aloud because it may be perceived as a sign of struggling or lack of ability, but Reader’s Theater reduces this stigma by framing rereading as a performance, making it a fun and social activity.

After completing Reader’s Theater, the author noticed an improvement in students’ DIBELS scores, particularly in fluency measures, indicating increased reading confidence and proficiency.

The teacher’s approach of using Reader’s Theater to remediate fluency difficulties is innovative and engaging; I believe it can be effective because it promotes active participation, repetition, and social interaction, which are essential for fluency development. I could see myself using this approach with my students because it makes reading practice enjoyable and meaningful.

Reader’s Theater can be used to facilitate the development of fluency and reading endurance in students with reading difficulties such as dyslexia by providing repeated, interconnected reading experiences that build automaticity and stamina while reducing anxiety associated with reading aloud.
