You are what you eat. Have you ever heard that? Although that saying is not exactly true, what we do eat does impact how we concentrate in class, work, perform in sports, and even affects our moods. The purpose of this activity is to deepen learning through reflective thinking. Follow these guidelines when completing this assignment: Keep a log of the foods and drinks you consumed (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) from Monday through Friday (no weekends). After reviewing your food log at the end of week 1, please answer the questions below: How many days did you eat breakfast? __________ How many days did you eat at least 1 fruit? __________ How many days did you eat at least 1 vegetable? _________ How many days did you eat “junk food” (chips, candy, etc.)? ________ How many days did you drink soda? ______ How many total ounces of water did you drink per day? ______ At the end of the week, reflect on what you ate for the week. Rate your nutrition for that week on a scale from 1 – 10 (with 10 being the best). Support your answer with examples of why you gave yourself that rating. Describe ONE change you would like to make to your diet. Reflect on what went well and what could be improved. Be sure to write in complete sentences. A strong paragraph is at least 5 sentences. Throughout this week, I closely examined my eating habits to assess how my diet impacts my overall well-being and daily performance. I ate breakfast on four out of five days, which provided me with essential energy to start my day. I managed to incorporate at least one fruit on three days and one vegetable on two days, demonstrating some effort toward balanced nutrition. However, I also consumed junk food—such as chips and candy—on three days, and drank soda twice, which I recognize could be improved. On average, I drank approximately 64 ounces of water daily, which supports proper hydration but leaves room for increased intake. Based on this review, I would rate my nutrition an overall 6 out of 10 because while I included some healthy foods, I also relied on less nutritious options, and my water consumption could be higher. Moving forward, I would like to reduce my intake of processed snacks and soda, replacing them with more fruits, vegetables, and additional water. This reflection shows that while I made positive choices, there is significant room to enhance my diet for better physical and mental health.
