Today, I am here to advocate for a crucial change in our approach to online education—specifically, the implementation of mandatory quality assurance standards for digital learning platforms. The explosive growth of online education has democratized access to knowledge, but it has also introduced significant challenges related to the quality, credibility, and consistency of educational content delivered digitally. Without standardized benchmarks, students and educators risk engaging with subpar or even misleading materials, which can hinder learning outcomes and diminish the value of online education as a whole. Therefore, I propose that we establish mandatory quality standards applicable across all digital learning platforms.
This change is vital because the current landscape lacks uniformity and accountability (grounds). Many platforms offer courses without rigorous oversight, leading to disparities in content quality. This inconsistency causes confusion among learners, who may struggle to differentiate reputable courses from those of inferior standards. Establishing mandatory standards acts as a warrant—ensuring that all online educational offerings meet minimum quality criteria, which in turn, improves trust and credibility in digital learning.
My proposition is the best option because it addresses core issues through several subclaims supported by evidence.
