Please consult this guide before starting your research to ensure that you complete the annotated bibliography assignment correctly. This checklist also provides some useful tips on how to find credible resources for your project.
Assignments must be submitted through Canvas Assignments. Make sure to attach the original word file, and if you do not use Microsoft Word, save or export your file as a Word document. At least 5 sources are required, with no more than 2 online sources (websites). You must have at least 1 primary source of literature, such as scientific research published in journals. Do not cite Wikipedia, blogs, or general interest sites. You must obtain and read full-text sources, not just summaries or abstracts.
Use credible sources from the library, especially the article databases or Google Scholar, and add scientific terms to your searches for more precise results. Full-text articles may require access through library subscriptions; adding “pdf” to Google Scholar searches often helps locate full-text PDFs.
Citations must be formatted in MLA style, with the use of tools like Son of Citation or Microsoft Word's citation feature. Include the full URL at the end of each citation, alphabetize entries by the last name of the author, and format citations with “hanging” indentation.
Each entry must be annotated with at least three sentences: summarize the source, mention an interesting fact learned, and explain how you will use it in your paper. Indent the entire annotation as a paragraph in “first line” format.
