A primary consideration in selecting these programs is accreditation. All three programs possess regional accreditation: the University of Florida and University of Texas at Austin are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, while NYU is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Beyond institutional accreditation, specialized accreditation such as CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs) is critical for LPC licensure in many states (CACREP, 2023).
