For instance, hot weather and vigorous exercise increase water requirements significantly. It is possible to meet hydration needs without drinking solely glasses of water, as fluids come from foods like fruits and vegetables, which have high water content. The hardness or softness of water influences its healthfulness; soft water may contain more sodium, which could impact individuals with hypertension, while hard water provides calcium and magnesium beneficial for bone health. Conversely, bottled water can sometimes be more dangerous than tap water if it is contaminated or improperly stored, leading to health risks.
