In this assignment, I selected an article published within the last twelve months that pertains to a recent discovery involving a painting by Vincent Van Gogh, an artist I greatly admire. The article, titled “DIA brings famed Van Gogh Painting from Musée d'Orsay,” was published by La Prensa on February 1, 2013, and was found using the ProQuest Newsstand database. Although the author remains anonymous, the article provides an insightful account of how the Detroit Institute of Arts acquired one of Van Gogh’s celebrated paintings, which was previously housed at the Musée d'Orsay in France. The article discusses the painting’s display period in 2013 and highlights its uniqueness as one of only three known copies. The piece also references a letter Van Gogh wrote to his brother, which inspired this artwork, and details how its presence in Detroit increases the museum’s prominence.
