Assignment 1: Carefully Review The Attached Grading Rubric
Assignment 1carefully Review The Attached Grading Rubric For The Crite
Assignment 1 Carefully review the attached Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate the assignment. Creating a Project Follow the instructions below to create a small project file to submit to your instructor. 1.Sign into using If Project.Management.INFO410.W2 is not already loaded, click on it. Note that this free trial version is only available for 30 days from sign up. 2. Click the Create New tab. On the left hand side you will see the Template Gallery. 3. Select “Project Management” from the left hand list. 4. Scroll down the template list and search for “Basic Project with Gantt & Dependencies.” and click “Use Template” under template option. 5. Name your sheet and leave all options checked. 6. Review the attached video tutorials: Tutorial #1, Tutorial #2, Tutorial #5. Note: Although the tutorials are for Microsoft Project software, Smartsheet has the same Gantt chart functionality. 7. Once it comes up, you will see the Gantt view. To see the rest of the tabs (duration tab), move the border of the calendar over to the right or click on the Grid View Button under the home tab and that will show the rest of the menu tabs. 8. Modify the work breakdown structure names and levels to look exactly how it is shown in Tutorial #2 (the basic breakdown structure is already provided for you in the Smartsheet template) and enter the tasks exactly how the video tutorial describes. You will need to add and remove rows along with indenting and outdenting to complete this assignment. Start and finish dates do not have to be copied from the video example. 9. Select the durations of the tasks as shown in Tutorial #5. Use the exact durations shown in Tutorial #5 for your assignment. You do not need to use the “alternative” timeframes, as shown in Tutorial #5. You can keep everything in single numerical days. 10. Save your project. Grading Rubric 1. Creates a Work Breakdown Structure: Creates an accurate work breakdown structure using Smartsheet and completes all of the steps according to Tutorial #2. 2. Selects the Durations of Tasks: Accurately selects all of the durations of tasks in Smartsheet as shown in Tutorial #5. 3. Integrative Learning: Integrated Communication: Utilizes a format, language, or graph (or other visual representation) in ways that enhance comprehension, while making clear the interdependence of language and meaning, thought, and expression. Creating a Work Breakdown Structure Using Smartsheet for Project Management
The assignment requires students to create a project work breakdown structure (WBS) using Smartsheet, replicate the process demonstrated in instructional tutorials, and accurately select task durations as specified. This process involves an initial review of the grading rubric to understand the evaluation criteria, followed by a step-by-step procedure for accessing and utilizing Smartsheet for project management.
Students start by signing into the designated Smartsheet account, ensured to be logged into the specific project management workspace. If the project template "Basic Project with Gantt & Dependencies" isn't readily available, students are instructed to create a new project by selecting the appropriate template from the Template Gallery, explicitly choosing the "Project Management" category. The naming of the sheet and leaving the default options checked ensures consistency and ease of tracking.
Reviewing the video tutorials (Tutorials #1, #2, and #5) is a critical preparatory step. Despite being designed for Microsoft Project, the tutorials highlight functionalities that are directly transferable to Smartsheet, such as Gantt chart creation and task duration setting. The tutorials serve as visual guides, demonstrating techniques like adjusting the view, adding or removing tasks, indenting or outdenting for hierarchical structures, and setting task durations.
Once the project skeleton is generated within Smartsheet, students are guided to modify the work breakdown structure to mirror the structured hierarchy demonstrated in Tutorial #2. This involves editing the existing structure, adding and removing rows, and adjusting indentations to clearly define task dependencies and categories. The start and finish dates are not mandated to match the examples precisely, offering flexibility for students' individual project timelines.
The key focus in the next step is to assign precise task durations based on Tutorial #5. Students must accurately input the durations for each task, adhering to the exact days specified, disregarding alternative timeframes shown in the tutorial, thereby ensuring consistency across student submissions.
Finally, students are required to save their completed project file. The grading rubric emphasizes the creation of an accurate WBS, correct selection of task durations, and the effective use of communication tools such as visualizations or formatting to enhance understanding of project interdependencies. Proper application of these skills demonstrates mastery of project management principles within Smartsheet, aligning with instructional goals and assessment criteria.
