For this assignment, you will engage with the Humanities in your local area either by visiting a cultural venue or by interviewing a professional in the Humanities. You must choose one of the following options:

  • Option 1: Visit a venue such as an art museum, architectural site, music concert, dance or theater performance, poetry or book reading, film presentation, religious service different from your own, cultural or arts festival, or other approved venues. Attend during the current semester and take a photograph of the site or event. Write a 3-4 page (approximately 1000 words) report including details such as location, date, setting, and a description of one aspect of the experience that impacted you, using at least two interpretive methods discussed in class with explicit identification, quotes or paraphrases from course resources, and a reflection on its relevance to your life or community.

    Ensure the report is well-structured, includes in-text citations and a MLA bibliography for all sources, and discusses a specific example from your visit illustrating cultural or artistic elements.

Option 2: Conduct an interview with a Humanities professional such as a religious leader, university professor, artist, curator, community arts coordinator, author, director, or performer. Arrange the interview in person, via video, or email. Write a 3-4 page report summarizing what you learned, including details about the person’s background and their connection to the Humanities, one interesting aspect of the interview, a specific connection to course material with highlighted terminology, a quote or paraphrase from class resources, and a reflection on the interview’s relevance to your life or understanding of Humanities.
