Despite the increased efforts made in America to ensure that all individuals have access to high-quality healthcare and that their overall well-being is maintained, there remains a concerning rise in juvenile illnesses and mortality rates. Young people often engage in high-risk behaviors, including substance use and hazardous activities, which significantly contribute to chronic health conditions and accidental deaths. Moreover, adolescence is marked by considerable stress due to academic pressures and employment challenges, which further impacts mental health. According to Medina-Martínez et al. (2002), stress and anxiety are key contributors to mental health issues among youth.

Advanced practice nurses (APNs) can play a pivotal role in improving youth health outcomes through early identification and intervention. These nurses, equipped with advanced education and clinical experience, serve as community health advocates who can develop targeted educational programs to address prevalent health issues among adolescents. By establishing community-based initiatives, APNs can actively engage young people, fostering awareness and prevention of health risks while involving families and community stakeholders.

Through health education programs, APNs can instruct teenagers on preventive measures, healthy habits, and disease management, thus promoting healthier lifestyles. Additionally, community screening programs led by APNs can detect chronic illnesses early, allowing for timely treatment and lifestyle modifications that reduce youth mortality rates. Such initiatives are vital in addressing the rising incidences of juvenile health issues and ensuring long-term well-being for young populations. These efforts exemplify how advanced practice nursing can significantly impact community health, particularly in reducing preventable illnesses and deaths among youth (Anglin et al., 2020; Medina-Martínez et al., 2021).
