Question One

The problem statement in doctoral research articulates a precise and concise declaration of the gap in existing scholarly knowledge. It delineates what is currently unknown or insufficiently explored in the literature concerning a specific topic, thereby underscoring the necessity for further investigation. For my proposed research, the problem statement centers on the limited understanding of the impact of remote work on employee productivity and mental health in organizational settings. The scope encompasses various industries where telecommuting has increased, especially post-pandemic, affecting diverse workforce demographics. If this problem remains unaddressed, organizations risk neglecting the well-being of their employees, potentially resulting in decreased productivity, higher turnover, and deteriorating mental health outcomes, which could undermine organizational effectiveness. My research aims to contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies that optimize remote work structures, thereby enhancing employee well-being and organizational performance (Blount & Barbato, 2020; Smith, 2021).

Question Two

In preparing the second draft of my prospectus, I have conducted a thorough self-evaluation based on the objectives and slide requirements outlined in the prospectus PowerPoint template, including feedback received from my instructor. Overall, I believe that the core components of my study—such as the problem statement, literature review, research questions, and methodology—are appropriately aligned, ensuring coherence and logical progression. My rationale stems from the clear connection between the identified problem and the proposed research design, which aims to systematically address the knowledge gap. Nonetheless, I recognize the need for further refinement of my conceptual framework and expansion of the literature review to incorporate more recent scholarly sources. Additional work includes developing detailed data collection procedures and operational definitions for key variables. My primary questions revolve around how best to justify my sampling strategy and ensure methodological rigor in data analysis, for which I plan to seek targeted guidance from my instructor.
