For example, a family is going through a difficult time after finding out a loved one has an illness. The nurses and psychological staff try to be their emotional support. They try to be there through their time in the hospital, pain, and grief.

Imagine a world where the staff doesn’t try to be empathetic towards patients and their families. As much as some may think we’re just a diagnosis to them, they do try to provide those services. Asian cultures look down upon eye contact because it’s considered disrespectful to hold eye contact with someone. The Asian person may cut all ties with the person who holds eye contact with them.
