Paper For Above instruction
The APA “Find the Errors” task requires students to review an unformatted APA paper and identify formatting errors using Word’s Track Changes function. The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize students with APA formatting rules, such as citations, references, capitalization, punctuation, and overall document structure. This task emphasizes the importance of accuracy in academic writing and correct adherence to APA style guidelines, which is essential for scholarly communication and maintaining credibility in research.
To accomplish this task, students need access to the Week 1 APA Unformatted Example Essay provided in the course materials. Using Microsoft Word, they will activate the Track Changes feature found under the Review tab, which allows them to mark and suggest corrections for errors directly on the document. The objective is to identify at least 25 errors related to APA formatting, including citation placement, author-date formatting, reference list structure, heading styles, and title page formatting.
As students review the essay, they should carefully examine each element for compliance with APA guidelines outlined in the resources provided, such as the Introduction to APA resources, the Formatting Your References List page, and Citing Within Your Paper. Errors may include improper in-text citations, missing italics, incorrect capitalization, inaccurate reference entries, and misplaced punctuation. For each mistake, students will highlight the relevant text and create a comment with the corresponding APA rule, demonstrating their understanding of the correct formatting standards.
It is important to note that some capitalization and punctuation errors may be fixed directly via Track Changes, but these are not the primary focus. The main goal is to identify formal APA errors and explain the correct rules through comments. After completing the review, students are instructed to save the corrected document as a PDF. This involves going to the File menu, choosing ‘Save As’, selecting PDF from the format options, and then saving the file accordingly. Submitting this PDF is the final step of the assignment, enabling instructors to see both the identified errors and the applied corrections.
