1. Why do teams matter more than ever? Please explain from your own viewpoint.
Teams matter more than ever because they foster increased innovation and diverse perspectives in a rapidly changing global environment. In my view, teamwork enhances flexibility and adaptability, enabling organizations to respond swiftly to challenges and opportunities. The collaborative nature of teams also boosts problem-solving capabilities, which are crucial in today's interconnected world, driving sustainable competitiveness (Salas, Cooke, & Rosen, 2008).
2. Explain what you value most in teamwork. What are some key characteristics that a leader must have to successfully manage a team? Explain your answer.
In teamwork, I value effective communication and mutual trust as fundamental elements that facilitate coordination and cohesion among team members. A successful leader must possess strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to motivate and inspire the team, ensuring clear goals and mutual accountability (Zaccaro, 2007). These characteristics foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and shared purpose essential for team success.
3. Why do teams fail? Explain your answer.
Teams often fail due to poor communication, lack of trust, and unclear roles, leading to conflicts and inefficiencies (Kozlowski & Ilgen, 2006). Additionally, leadership deficiencies, such as inadequate support or ineffective conflict resolution, can undermine team performance. Without proper coordination and commitment, even capable teams can struggle to achieve their objectives.
