Unlike traditional operating systems that primarily focus on local resource management, cloud-integrated OSs will emphasize distributed resource management, virtualization, and security, enabling more efficient processing and storage solutions (Smith, 2021). For example, operating systems like Google’s Chrome OS already lean heavily on cloud services for storage and application execution, illustrating a shift towards cloud reliance (Johnson, 2020).

Furthermore, cloud-based operating systems will facilitate real-time collaboration and instant data access across devices. This paradigm shift is driven by cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, which offer extensive infrastructure to support virtualized environments (Kumar & Patel, 2022). In addition, future operating systems will incorporate advanced security features attributed to cloud technology.
