HSA Department Developed This Class To Help Students
The Hsa Department Developed This Class To Give Our Students And Event
The HSA department developed this class to give our students and eventual graduates the best learning experience possible to prepare you for a successful career in the health services field. By the time you get to graduation, whether that is next semester or in several years, we want you to be prepared to represent yourself and UCF in the best way possible. One thing the research shows us is that it is difficult to succeed without a plan, and this assignment (a personal development plan) is to help you develop one for yourself so that you can leave this class with something tangible and actionable (aside from your resumes, which I recommend you keep updated so that you always have a current one available).
This assignment will build slightly on the SWOT analysis we did towards the beginning of the semester, but with more detail. Take ownership of your training and professional development.
– Pause and reflect! Amidst daily activities, it is easy to lose sight of longer-term goals.
– Think intentionally about your short-, mid- and long-term training and development goals.
– Identify and use resources to help you achieve your goals.
– Have open and direct dialogue with your mentor(s).
– Establish clear expectations/steps.
This paper will be 2-3 pages in APA format (no references are required). You will address the following (in a professional context) in full paragraphs divided by subheadings (no bullets or lists):
– Goals (at least 2 per time period)
– Immediate/short-term goals (within the next 6 months)
– Medium-term goals (within the next 5 years)

Paper For Above instruction
Developing a comprehensive personal development plan is crucial for guiding my professional journey in the health services field. Such a plan helps clarify goals, identify necessary skills, and leverage resources effectively. Reflecting on my current positioning, aspirations, and the skills I need to develop ensures that I can make strategic decisions to achieve my career objectives efficiently.
Goals
In the immediate term, my goals include completing relevant coursework with high grades and gaining practical experience through internships or volunteer opportunities within the next six months. These foundational steps will enhance my understanding of the healthcare environment and strengthen my credentials for future roles. Medium-term, over the next five years, I aim to obtain a relevant certification, such as Certified Healthcare Administrative Professional (cHAP), and develop specialized knowledge in health information management. Long-term goals involve earning a master’s degree in health administration or a related field, positioning myself for leadership roles. Ultimately, my career "endgame" is to serve as a health services administrator, improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes through effective management and policy implementation.
Skills
Currently, my academic skills are solid, with a focus on healthcare practices and basic research methods. However, I recognize the need to enhance my technical skills, especially in health informatics systems and data analysis software such as Excel, SPSS, or Tableau. To address this, I plan to enroll in online courses, aiming to achieve proficiency within the next year. Professionally, my interpersonal and communication skills are good, but I aspire to improve my leadership and conflict resolution abilities. I will actively seek opportunities to lead student projects and participate in workshops, setting measurable goals to develop these skills over the next two years.
Resources
To facilitate my growth, I will utilize university resources such as career services and academic advising. Mentorship from faculty members and health industry professionals will be vital; I plan to establish ongoing dialogue with mentors to seek advice and feedback. Additionally, professional organizations like the American College of Healthcare Executives offer networking and development opportunities. Online platforms such as Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, and local workshops will support my technical skill acquisition. Leveraging these resources, I will create a schedule to review my progress every six months, adjusting my goals and strategies accordingly.
In conclusion, a well-structured personal development plan aligns my immediate efforts with my long-term ambitions in health services. By setting clear goals, actively enhancing my skills, and utilizing available resources, I prepare myself to navigate the complexities of this dynamic field. Success will depend on continual reflection, strategic action, and proactive engagement with mentors and professional communities. This plan not only provides a roadmap but also encourages adaptability as I evolve within my career.
