Using the textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, do the following:

Identify the Problem

Select and research a social issue based on the course readings or personal interest. Define and describe the social issue in detail using a variety of relevant outside sources. Explain the social context of the social issue and identify and describe ethical concerns related to it. Determine what population is most impacted by the social issue.

Find the Legislation

Use credible government sources to find and learn about a piece of legislation related to your chosen social problem or issue. Explain how the legislation relates to the social problem or issue, including a description of the legislation.

Write an Advocacy Letter

Identify your elected representative(s) and find their contact and email addresses. Write an advocacy letter regarding the legislation, supporting or opposing it. The letter should include an introduction to the social issue, personal or contextual relevance, identification of the House bill (HR) or Senate bill (S) number, a brief summary of the social problem, and an explanation of the legislation's importance. Advocate for or against the legislation in a knowledgeable and respectful tone, evaluating its potential impact on the target population and proposing ways it could influence the social problem.
