Transformational and charismatic leadership styles are often distinguished by their focus on inspiring followers through vision and personal charm, respectively. To categorize Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, and Angela Merkel, I would gather data on their communication style, ability to inspire change, leadership narratives, and how followers perceive their influence.
Vladimir Putin and Hamid Karzai can be viewed as charismatic leaders based on their personal appeal and ability to rally followers through their personalities. However, if I were a Russian or Afghan citizen, my perspective might differ due to national loyalty or personal experiences influencing my perception of their leadership styles.
The underrepresentation of women in top leadership roles despite perceptions of females as more transformational could stem from societal biases, organizational structures, and cultural norms that favor men for leadership positions, rather than differences in capability or leadership style.
