Technology has become an integral part of early childhood education, providing a myriad of opportunities to enhance learning experiences. In my classroom, I utilize technology through interactive tablets, educational software, and digital storytelling tools to foster engagement and cater to diverse learning styles. For instance, apps designed for early literacy and numeracy help children develop foundational skills in a dynamic and interactive manner. The use of technology in early childhood can benefit children by promoting digital literacy, supporting individualized learning, and increasing access to a variety of educational resources. However, there are concerns about potential negative impacts, such as reduced physical activity, decreased social interactions, and exposure to inappropriate content if not properly monitored. Therefore, technology should be integrated thoughtfully, balancing screen time with hands-on activities and face-to-face interactions to support holistic development (Hughes & Muijk, 2021).

This article emphasizes how technology can be a powerful educational tool when used appropriately, highlighting strategies for educators and families to incorporate digital media while maintaining developmental appropriateness. Sharing this resource with families can help them understand the importance of guided and intentional technology use at home, ensuring that digital media enhances rather than hinders their child's overall development (NAEYC, 2022).
Given our dependency on phones and media, I am conscious of the importance of maintaining human connections. While I acknowledge the convenience and productivity that technology offers, I actively make efforts to prioritize face-to-face interactions with children, colleagues, and family members. Maintaining eye contact, engaging in active listening, and participating in shared physical activities help foster meaningful relationships. As for how long I could go without my phone or the internet, I believe I could manage for a day or two, especially if I deliberately set aside times for disconnecting to focus on in-person interactions. Recognizing the pervasive influence of technology, it is crucial to develop boundaries that promote authentic human connections, which are vital for emotional well-being and social development (Turkle, 2015).
