Instructions Due 12262021assignment 3 Course Project Portfolio Art
Complete and submit a 15 page paper on the approved proposal course project topic relating a contemporary social issue to both classical and contemporary theory. In this assignment students choose a contemporary social issue and at least one classical and one contemporary social theorist that fits with the issue.
Paper For Above instruction
The purpose of this paper is to analyze a specific contemporary social issue through the lens of sociological theory, both classical and contemporary. By doing so, the paper aims to deepen understanding of how social theories explain, interpret, and potentially suggest solutions to current societal challenges. The assignment involves selecting an issue relevant to today's society, such as inequality, racism, gender discrimination, environmental concerns, or technological impacts on social life, among others. Once the issue is defined, the student must identify and discuss at least one classical social theorist, such as Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, or Max Weber, whose theories are pertinent to understanding the issue. Additionally, the student must incorporate at least one contemporary social theorist whose ideas provide a modern perspective or explanation related to the chosen social problem.
The paper should be approximately 15 pages in length, double-spaced, and formatted according to academic standards. It must include an introduction that presents the social issue and its relevance, a literature review of the classical and contemporary theories used, an analysis section where the theories are applied to interpret the social issue, and a conclusion that summarizes the findings and suggests possible implications or solutions.
Students should ensure that the discussion clearly links the chosen theories to the social issue, demonstrating an understanding of how each theory explains different facets of the problem. Use appropriate citations to support arguments, referencing peer-reviewed journal articles, books by the theorists, and reputable sources. The paper should integrate theoretical concepts with real-world examples to illustrate how theory informs understanding and potential approaches to address the issue. Proper academic language, organization, and referencing are required to meet scholarly standards.
