Lab Assignment Follow Up To Chapter 11 40 Pointsdesign A Kiosk Fi
Design a kiosk fixture: You have been hired by the Indiana Artisans (IA) to design a kiosk fixture for them to promote their organization’s activities, increase awareness of this statewide program and sell individual artisans’ merchandise. A. Location and rationale (5 points) Indiana Artisans (IA) is considering the following locations to place their kiosk, but have asked you to make a recommendation of the best location, providing a sound rationale for your selection. This will require you to do an online search of the IA website to understand their history, purpose, current activities such as the annual marketplace and friends of IA program as well as the selection of artisans and merchandise they sell. You will also need to review each of the possible locations as it will determine the type of kiosk you design, signage, information to promote, and merchandise selection. You want to select a location that will generate the greatest awareness to expand market awareness and to sell IA products on behalf of the artisans.
Potential locations include:
- Indianapolis Airport
- Indianapolis Convention Center
- One of the area tourist attractions: Newfields, Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis Canal
- Hamilton Town Center (located near Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center)
B. Kiosk selection and physical placement at recommended location (15 points) Sourcing resources for your design: VMSD Buyers Guide, other retail industry sites, Pinterest, mall real estate sites. At least one kiosk design/site must be sourced using the VMSD Buyers Guide. Based on your selected location, research and select from the following types of kiosks and determine the physical placement within the chosen location:
- Freestanding permanent unit in high traffic areas such as malls, tourist attractions, airports
- Freestanding permanent unit in a store
- Cart (RMU) – non-permanent
Source at least two different kiosk design vendors, providing citations for both. Include an image of a selected kiosk from each vendor and identify the type of kiosk based on the list provided. Consider incorporating technology such as a video screen or interactive display, and ensure the design accommodates display areas for merchandise, a checkout area, and lighting. The display should be flexible to accommodate seasonal promotions and artisans’ products. Based on your research, recommend which kiosk type suits IA best, considering location, market traffic, merchandise, and brand image. Additionally, explain how the chosen kiosk design, materials, and colors promote IA’s brand/image and are appropriate for the location. Provide specifications like size, features, materials, estimated cost, and electrical needs for your top choice. If vendor specifications are limited, consider alternative vendors.
C. Design a sign (5 points) specifically for IA. Include a colored image of your sign design, the total number needed, and placement on the kiosk. Your design can be hand-drawn or computer-generated (e.g., Canva).
D. Merchandise and IA promotions (15 points) Merchandise and planogram (12 points)
- For the summer launch from June through August, select at least 8 Indiana artisans and their products to display and sell at the kiosk.
- Provide a brief explanation of why these artisans were selected, along with a list of their products planned for display.
- Create a planogram for one side of the kiosk, indicating merchandise placement and signage. Include images of the products, props, graphics, and signage intended to enhance visual merchandising and customer engagement.
Technology use (3 points)
- Identify the type and placement of technology integrated into your kiosk. Explain whether it's interactive or informational, how it functions, and how it engages customers to browse or purchase. Consider the customer profile that would be interested in stopping at the kiosk and how the technology promotes awareness of IA to expand the artisan market base.
