Develop a comprehensive project action plan that includes an overview of your research topic, your connection to the GEP program, short- and long-term goals, an integrative-learning plan, a social change connection plan, and a project management plan with a breakdown of tasks and timeline.
Paper For Above instruction
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to outline a detailed action plan for a research project that aligns with academic, personal, and social objectives. My chosen research topic revolves around examining the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on ethical decision-making within the field of computer science and technology. I am particularly interested in understanding how AI algorithms influence human decision processes and the ethical considerations surrounding AI deployment in various industries. through this project, I aim to contribute to the ongoing discourse on AI ethics and develop practical recommendations for responsible AI integration.
Research Question
The central research question guiding this project is: How do AI systems influence ethical decision-making in industry applications, and what measures can be implemented to promote ethical AI practices?
Past GEP Connection
This project is deeply rooted in my experiences within the General Education Program (GEP). Courses such as Introduction to Ethics, Computer Science Foundations, and Technology and Society have shaped my interest in the ethical implications of technology. Additionally, my internship at Skynet Industries provided real-world exposure to AI applications, reinforcing the importance of ethical considerations in technology development. These academic and professional experiences have laid a foundation for my current research focus, linking my past learning with my present project.
Goals
Short-term goals for this semester include conducting interdisciplinary research on AI ethics, interviewing industry professionals, and developing a comprehensive report that synthesizes findings from computer science, psychology, and ethics. Specifically, I aim to analyze case studies where AI has impacted ethical decision-making and propose guidelines for responsible AI deployment.
Long-term goals involve contributing to policy development in AI ethics, particularly in shaping industry standards and regulatory frameworks. Post-graduation, I aspire to work in AI safety and ethics, advocating for responsible AI practices and participating in the formulation of ethical guidelines at organizational and governmental levels.
Integrative-Learning Plan
To achieve these goals, I plan to undertake multi-disciplinary research involving scholarly articles from computer science, ethics, psychology, and law. I will conduct interviews with AI engineers, ethicists, and policymakers to gain diverse perspectives. For example, I will consult resources such as AI Ethics Guidelines from organizations like IEEE and conduct primary interviews with professionals at Skynet Industries, where I intern, to understand practical challenges in implementing ethical AI practices.
In terms of mediums, I intend to produce a detailed research report complemented by a presentation. Additionally, I will create an educational YouTube documentary to disseminate findings broadly, aiming to reach both academic and general audiences. The documentary will be approximately 15-20 minutes long and will include interviews, case studies, and expert commentary to effectively communicate complex ethical issues surrounding AI.
Social Change Connection Plan
This semester’s project is an essential step in the broader trajectory of social impact. I plan to share my research findings through multiple channels: submitting articles to industry blogs and ethics forums, presenting at academic conferences, and engaging with policymakers via virtual roundtables. These efforts aim to influence decision-makers in technology companies and government agencies, encouraging the adoption of ethical guidelines for AI.
In the future, I intend to leverage social media platforms using relevant hashtags like #AIethics and #ResponsibleAI to raise public awareness. Collaborating with advocacy groups and participating in community outreach programs will amplify the social impact, promoting responsible AI practices that prioritize human rights and societal wellbeing.
Project Management Plan
The project will be broken down into critical tasks, each with specific deadlines. Key tasks include literature review (weeks 1-3), interviews (weeks 4-6), data analysis (weeks 7-8), and report writing (weeks 9-10). The final stages will involve preparing the documentary and dissemination plan (weeks 11-12). I will develop a Gantt chart to visualize tasks and timeline, ensuring steady progress and timely completion. This structured approach will facilitate effective project management, allowing adjustment of activities as needed.
