Initially, my thoughts were that this is a practical tool combining spiritual insight with strategic planning, providing a systematic way to articulate hopes, recognize challenges, and seek God's guidance. This approach is especially relevant in the Eagle Scholars program, which encourages academic excellence coupled with spiritual maturity, highlighting how intentional living can be both effective and purposeful. The conflict Malm discusses between human decision-making and divine sovereignty resonates deeply with me, as I believe stewardship involves surrendering control and trusting God to direct our paths. Malm’s discussion on stewardship underscores that doing our best with what we have, while seeking God's intervention in areas beyond our control, is essential for a Christ-centered life. Personally, this has challenged me to reflect on whether I am truly stewarding my talents, resources, and time for God’s glory, rather than merely controlling my life’s course. The importance of aligning our dreams with divine will reminds me that ultimate success involves partnership with God, trusting His plans instead of solely relying on my own efforts.

A specific chapter that spoke profoundly to me was the one addressing the tension between planning and trusting God’s timing. One quote that particularly enriched this message was by Proverbs 3:5-6, which urges believers to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly and acknowledge Him in all their ways, promising He will direct their paths. I selected this quotation because it encapsulates the core of stewardship—trusting God's guidance rather than leaning on our own understanding, especially when plans are disrupted or delayed. Malm’s emphasis on flexibility within a vision map aligns with this biblical principle, reminding me that divine guidance often requires patience and humility. If I could ask Malm three questions, I would inquire: (1) How do you balance detailed planning with maintaining spiritual flexibility in uncertain times? (Chapter 4, p. 45); (2) What advice do you give to those who struggle to surrender control to God's sovereignty? (Chapter 7, p. 89); and (3) How can we discern between the red ink (things only God can do) and black ink (actions we can take) in complex situations? These questions aim to deepen my understanding of practical stewardship and trusting God beyond my comfort zone.

Through engaging with this book and crafting my own vision map, I have learned valuable insights about myself. First, I realized the importance of clarity in my hopes and dreams; vague goals lack the direction needed for meaningful progress. Second, I recognized that my current gap between dreams and reality often centers around my own fears and complacency, which hinder my proactive steps. Third, I discovered that trusting God involves more than prayer—it requires deliberate action aligned with divine principles, such as punctuality, integrity, and perseverance. For my family, I aspire to be known for integrity and nurture restored relationships; in finances, I aim to eliminate debt by adhering to a strict budget; for my career, I want to advance into leadership while maintaining humility; in education, I plan to earn certification in my field; and personally, I hope to develop discipline in my health and spiritual walk. These insights guide my efforts to steward my life intentionally, seeking God's help in areas marked with red ink—those only He can accomplish.
