My city that I was given is Bogota. This assignment has to be in Beginners Spanish format as the class is for beginners. As a cumulative project at the end of the semester, you will complete an individual video presentation to showcase communicative skills learned throughout this semester using themes, vocabulary, and structures practiced in Vistas Lessons 6-10. Your final communicative project (video and participation) is worth 10% of your overall final grade and is assessed according to the Final Communicative Project Rubric. Theme & Objectives Video Guidelines Participation Grading Checklist Theme | Tigres por el mundo Create a video sharing your experiences from a study abroad trip that you took to a Spanish-speaking country last semester. Students at the UofM are considering studying abroad in a Spanish-speaking country, and they want to hear about your experience to make the right choice for them. Promote your country and encourage students to study abroad there. Describe details of your time abroad including the following points: The outfits you wore, the clothes you bought, and the styles you observed there (Lección 6) Your daily routine while living there (Lección 7) Local foods you ate, cooked, liked, and did not like (Lección 8) A traditional event (party, holiday, cultural celebration, etc.) in the country that you attended (Lección 9) Your video should be captivating and compel other students to study abroad in your country! Objectives: I can describe a recent trip in the past. I can talk about my routine and activities, the clothes I wore, the food I ate, and the events I attended. I can describe a Spanish-speaking country and culture to my peers and learn about other countries and cultures. I can speak for several minutes in Spanish (without reading from a script) on a given topic. First Steps Follow the following steps to get started: Submit three Spanish-speaking cities to your professor and wait for the confirmation (cities will be assigned on a "first-come, first-served" basis). Research various aspects of the city and imagine that you took a study-abroad trip to this city last semester. Search other authentic sources in Spanish (such as blogs, video blogs, recipes, cooking shows, or other websites from your city) for more information about your city’s typical clothing, food, daily routines, and cultural celebrations to include in your video presentation. Use the Final Video Project Script Outline to organize your script and video. Video Guidelines To effectively accomplish the communicative goals, videos should be 3-4 minutes. Videos must be pre-recorded in video format (on your phone, laptop, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) and uploaded to YouTube. Make sure your video is set as unlisted, not private, so that everyone will have access. YouTube links must be submitted here. Late video submissions will receive a -5% reduction up to one day late and an additional -5% reduction if more than one day late. Content | Videos must be level-appropriate and use complete, logical, and organized sentences. Presentations should describe the clothing styles (Lección 6), daily routine (Lección 7), food (Lección 8), and a traditional event (Lección 9) observed in your country. Limit your vocabulary and grammatical structures to SPAN, Lessons 1-10 in Vistas. New vocabulary words must include a visual explanation. Use of online translators is prohibited. Use your own words and make sure you and your peers can understand what you are saying. Visual aids/Props | Videos must include visual aids and/or props to help demonstrate what you say. To record your video, use a cellphone, TikTok, Instagram, Zoom and/or any other tools to create a clear and visually appealing video in a well-lit space. Use school-appropriate visuals and props and consider filming your video in different locations on campus. Filters and backgrounds are also allowed. Be creative and have fun! Mi ciudad asignada para este proyecto es Bogotá, la capital de Colombia. A lo largo de este semestre, he aprendido mucho sobre la cultura, la comida, la ropa, y las tradiciones de Bogotá, y ahora puedo compartir estas experiencias en un video en español para animar a otros estudiantes a estudiar en Colombia. En este video, describiré mi rutina diaria, la ropa que usé, los alimentos que probé, y un evento cultural tradicional que presencié, utilizando el vocabulario y las estructuras aprendidas en las Lecciones 6 a 10 de Vistas.

Primero, hablaré sobre las prendas típicas que vi y usé en Bogotá. La moda en la ciudad combina estilos tradicionales y modernos. Por ejemplo, los bogotanos suelen vestir ropa cómoda y casualmente, como jeans, camisetas, y chaquetas ligeras debido al clima templado de la ciudad. En días especiales, la gente viste trajes más elegantes para eventos culturales o festivales, como la Feria de las Flores, donde la gente viste ropa colorida y tradicional. Durante mi visita, compré algunas prendas típicas, como camisetas con símbolos culturales y sombreros tradicionales, que reflejan la cultura vibrante de Bogotá.

Mi rutina diaria en Bogotá comenzaba por la mañana con un desayuno típico, que incluía arepas, fruta fresca, y café colombiano. Luego, solía pasear por La Candelaria, el centro histórico, donde podía admirar la arquitectura colonial y visitar museos. Durante el día, comía en cafeterías locales, probando platos como la bandeja paisa, preparado con arroz, carne, huevo, y plátanos. La comida colombiana me impresionó por sus sabores ricos y variados. No me gustaron algunas comidas más picantes que intenté por primera vez, pero en general, disfruté mucho de la gastronomía local.

En cuanto a las celebraciones culturales, asistí a la Feria de las Flores, un evento tradicional en Bogotá y en otras ciudades colombianas. La feria presenta desfiles de carros adornados con flores, música en vivo, bailes folclóricos, y un ambiente alegre que celebra la cultura colombiana. La gente viste trajes tradicionales, como polleras y sombreros vueltiaos, mostrando orgullosamente sus raíces culturales. Participar en este evento fue una experiencia inolvidable que me permitió aprender mucho sobre la historia y las tradiciones de Colombia.

Por último, recomiendo a todos los estudiantes que consideren estudiar en Bogotá o en Colombia por su cultura diversa, la calidez de la gente, y las oportunidades de aprender y explorar un país hermoso. Espero que mi video los motive a vivir esta experiencia única y enriquecedora.
