Leadership is a dynamic and situationally responsive attribute that varies significantly among individuals. According to Northouse (2018), effective leadership encompasses multiple styles that can be adapted to meet the demands of specific contexts. Based on my leadership self-assessment, my predominant style aligns closely with transformational leadership, characterized by inspiring others, fostering innovation, and encouraging personal development. This style resonates with my values of motivating teams through shared vision, promoting engagement, and emphasizing individualized consideration for team members' growth.

Transformational leadership has historically been associated with positive organizational outcomes, including higher employee satisfaction and increased performance (Bass & Riggio, 2006). My tendency to focus on establishing relationships and empowering team members highlights the importance of charisma, inspiration, and intellectual stimulation—core components of transformational leadership. However, in certain situations that require quick decisions or authoritative guidance, I recognize the need to incorporate elements of transactional leadership, emphasizing structure, clear expectations, and immediate accountability.

To enhance my effectiveness across a broader spectrum of circumstances, I plan to integrate other leadership qualities such as transactional characteristics—particularly in high-pressure or crisis situations where decisive authority is crucial. Additionally, adopting aspects of servant leadership could help me foster a more inclusive and empathetic environment, thereby improving collaboration and trust within the team (Greenleaf, 1977). Cultivating emotional intelligence is another strategy I aim to develop further, as it is fundamental for understanding team dynamics, managing conflicts, and demonstrating genuine care for team members’ well-being (Goleman, 1998).

In summary, while my leadership style is primarily transformational, incorporating transactional, servant leadership, and emotional intelligence skills will make me a more versatile leader capable of adapting to diverse situations. Leaders who demonstrate such flexibility can better address the complexities of today’s organizational environments and foster sustainable success.
