Discrimination remains a prevalent issue in society, affecting individuals on personal and societal levels. I recall an incident during my university years when a classmate was subject to discrimination based on their ethnicity. During a group project, some students subtly but clearly expressed biases, undermining her contributions and excluding her from certain discussions. Witnessing this discrimination was distressing, as it not only affected her participation but also created an uncomfortable environment for everyone involved. This experience highlighted how prejudice, as an attitude, can manifest in discriminatory actions that marginalize individuals based on their perceived differences.

Experiencing or witnessing discrimination often prompts a reflection on its roots and its impact on individuals and groups. Prejudice, as an attitude or belief, fuels discriminatory behaviors, which can have long-lasting emotional and psychological effects on victims. In my case, observing the exclusion and subtle derogatory comments demonstrated how societal stereotypes influence behavior, leading to unjust treatment. Such experiences underscore the importance of awareness and proactive efforts to challenge prejudiced attitudes and reduce discriminatory practices in our communities, fostering a more inclusive environment where diversity is respected and valued.
