For this assignment, I have chosen to focus on Education as the aspect of culture to explore its impact across various societies. This focus aligns with the significance of education as a fundamental pillar that shapes individuals and influences societal development. The initial step involved selecting relevant and credible sources that provide insights into cultural variations in education. I primarily relied on scholarly articles, comparing different cultural approaches and their influence on educational practices, policies, and outcomes. After thoroughly reviewing the sources, I identified key themes such as cultural values shaping curricula, the role of community in education, and the disparities arising from cultural differences.
The first source I selected for Part I is a journal article by Jonsson (2001), which examines how cultural values influence educational systems in different countries. Jonsson discusses how societies with collectivist orientations tend to emphasize community and cooperation in their educational practices, whereas individualist cultures focus more on independence and personal achievement.
