Throughout my academic journey in the Bachelor of Arts in Social Justice and Criminology (BASCJ) program, I have developed a nuanced understanding of the criminal justice system, particularly in analyzing how law enforcement, judiciary, and corrections intersect and influence societal dynamics. My chosen program learning outcome (PLO 1)—analyzing criminal justice issues within these systems—has been central to my coursework and research, sharpening my ability to critically evaluate the components of the justice system through an interdisciplinary lens.

The program's curriculum emphasized the interconnectedness of the three branches of the criminal justice system, highlighting systemic strengths and weaknesses. Courses such as Criminal Law and Correctional Systems fostered in-depth comprehension of policies, procedural justice, and inmate rights.
