There is no cure for herpes; however, antiviral medications such as acyclovir, valacyclovir, and famciclovir can help manage outbreaks, reduce symptoms, and decrease transmission risk. Prevention strategies include consistent use of condoms, avoiding sexual contact during active outbreaks, and reducing the number of sexual partners.
