Research Paper Using Word: This Assignment Has Two Goals
Research Paper Using Word This Assignment Has Two Goals
This assignment has two goals: 1) have students, via research, increase their understanding of impacts of information technology on current world issues, and 2) learn to correctly use the tools and techniques within Word to format a research paper, including use of available References and citation tools. These skills will be valuable throughout a student’s academic career. The paper will require a title page, NO abstract, three to five full pages of content with incorporation of a minimum of 3 external resources from credible sources and a Works Cited/References page. Wikipedia and similar general information sites, blogs or discussion groups are not considered credible sources for a research project.
Paper organization includes the following:
- Title page with the title centered on the page and your name below it.
- Body of the paper:
- Use 12-point Arial font.
- Margins set at 1 inch.
- Double-spaced text.
- Length of 3-5 pages, excluding the title page and References.
- Minimum of 3 APA-formatted citations and a References page. Every reference must be cited in the text, and every in-text citation must have an associated entry in the References list.
- Include at least two informational footnotes that contain additional information about the topic, not references.
- References on a separate page following the main content, after a hard return (CTRL+Enter).
Content sections include:
Introduction
Identify the issue or idea, explain why the topic was selected, and state your end goal. Keep this brief, not exceeding half a page.
Areas of Interest, Activity or Issue
Define the issue, describe specific problems or ideas, highlight related or underlying issues, dependencies, and explain implications if these are not addressed.
Research Findings
Summarize research related to your topic, citing sources and explaining their contribution to understanding the issue or idea.
Proposed Solutions, Ideas or Courses of Action
List solutions or actions, analyze their effectiveness, and discuss expected impacts or changes to the current situation. If multiple suggestions are made, analyze each thoroughly.
Conclusion
Summarize your findings, proposed solutions, and conclude with a synthesis that avoids simply repeating earlier sections.
Writing Quality:
- Ensure proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Avoid personal pronouns (I, you, your); use impersonal, formal language.
- Steer clear of contractions (don't, isn't, etc.).
- Proofread carefully or have someone review your work before submission.
Grading Criteria:
- Format: title page, font, margins, length – 0.5
- APA citations and references – 0.5
- Use of footnotes – 0.5
- Mechanics (grammar, spelling, punctuation) – 1.5
- Content: introduction, issue definition, findings, solutions, conclusion – total 10 points.

Understanding the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Modern Healthcare
Introduction
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force within the healthcare industry, promising to revolutionize diagnostics, treatment, and patient management. I selected this topic due to my interest in technological advancements and their implications for society. The end goal of this research is to analyze how AI is shaping healthcare, identify the key issues involved, and propose viable solutions to maximize benefits while minimizing risks.
Areas of Interest, Activity or Issue
AI's integration into healthcare involves complex challenges, including ethical concerns, data privacy, and accuracy issues. The specific problem lies in balancing technological innovation with patient safety and confidentiality. Related issues include disparities in access to AI-driven healthcare and potential job displacement for healthcare workers. If these issues remain unresolved, there could be significant impacts such as increased inequality and loss of trust in medical systems.
Research Findings
Research indicates that AI applications like diagnostic algorithms and robotic surgeries have improved procedural outcomes and reduced human error (Smith & Lee, 2021). According to the World Health Organization (2022), AI can facilitate early disease detection, thereby saving lives. Notably, a study by Johnson et al. (2020) highlighted risks associated with data breaches, emphasizing the need for robust cybersecurity measures. These findings demonstrate AI's potential and the importance of addressing accompanying challenges.
Proposed Solutions, Ideas or Courses of Action
One solution is establishing strict regulatory frameworks that govern AI development and deployment, emphasizing patient safety and data security (WHO, 2022). Another approach involves investing in training programs for healthcare providers to adapt to AI tools, thereby reducing job displacement concerns. Implementing transparent AI algorithms and increasing public awareness can further foster trust. Each proposal aims to optimize AI's benefits while mitigating its risks, contributing to more equitable and effective healthcare services.
Conclusion
This research underscores AI's profound impact on healthcare, offering both opportunities and challenges. The findings highlight technological benefits like improved diagnostics, balanced by concerns over privacy and ethics. Proposed measures—regulatory reforms, provider training, and transparency—are crucial for harnessing AI responsibly. As the industry evolves, continued research and adaptation will be vital in ensuring AI's positive influence on healthcare outcomes.
