Researching Report 5Ahmed Mohammad Idaho High Lander University ADMG 385 Comment by Mohd Mustafa Ahmady: Mohammad: I suggest using writing center to help you with your grammar. Comments: 1. Don't put a header on the first page. 2. The first three research questions should be taken directly from the employee survey. The fourth (and fifth) are from secondary research. As you have it, #2, #3, and #4 will not give you any information to make a determination which benefit to choose. Professor John Lydic 11/14/2017 Problem statement: Since the Overbridge LLC is providing health benefit for its employees, the Overbridge has it is considering considerate to bringing some changes to the employees’ health program. So, which benefit program will be most appropriate for employees of Overbridge LLC? Wellness? Or FMLA? Or a combination of both? Comment by Mohd Mustafa Ahmady: Use flush left, don’t justify the body copy Purpose statement: The purpose of this research report is to determine which program is more acceptable -Wellness Program or Paid Family Medical Leave Benefit and why? Research Questions: 1. Which benefit option is better according to preferences of employees? 2. Are these programs helpful for employees? 3. Which program will be chosen according to your perceptions? 4. What are the basic reasons behind choosing the specific program? Methodology: An employee survey was conducted for this organization to implemen t help determine which of the two new benefit packages is preferable for the employees. One is wellness programs and another is paid family leave benefit package. These two benefits will help employees and it will also help an organization to increase its productivity and package. A survey was made according to employee benefit. The survey process was sent to 2000 employees in the organization and about 1345 employees responded in the total process . According to the report, half of male and female were the respondents. About 8% respondents were found to be at an age of 51 to 70 years, at an age of 35 to 50 years were 36%, 41% were 25 to 34 years and rest of the respondents were 18 to 24 years. Another survey was made to see how many people reacted in which benefit packages. So from that report, it was cleared that about 538 employees accept paid family medical leave act benefit, 296 people accept wellness program, 497 employees choose both these two packages and only 14 employees did not react in any of this packages. In wellness programs, the activities were segregated to understand the better reviews from employees. According to that data, it has been found that 696 employees selected gym membership, 263 employees selected group exercise classes, nutrition was selected by 159 employees, 197 people choose stress reduction seminar or classes, and rest 30 employees selected none option. Another survey was made where they were asked to work the equivalent of one day a week during family medical leave to train and bridge essential projects where they will not lose those days and the days will be added to the end of the official leave. In this survey, 987 employees reacted in ‘yes’ option and 358 employees selected ‘no’ option. At the end of the survey, they were greeted for participating in this process. Comment by Mohd Mustafa Ahmady: None of the following is relevant. This section is to describe your methodology. Primary is the employee survey. Secondary is how you’re going to get outside information to help make a decision which package to choose. Are you going to research other companies? Read articles? What are your methods for the secondary research? Data collected from Wellness Program Data found from respondents References Beebe, J. (2017). Paid Family Leave: Balancing Acts. If they’re not done correctly at this stage, your final project will be extremely difficult. Most of your Researching Reports assignments need some additional work. There’s no point in doing them over unless I asked you to. I want you to take the comments I provided and the information below, and revise and resubmit your PowerPoint if necessary. (Read the end of this message for specific instructions about both assignments). This is how your Researching Reports assignment should look: 1. Problem Statement – Often posed as a question, the issue is should Overbridge add either Wellness or FMLA (or a combination of both) to employee benefits package. The issue is not if they should add new benefits, they’ve already decided to do so. Now it’s a question of which, and that can be answered with primary research (employee survey) and secondary research (your additional research). 2. Purpose Statement – The purpose of this report is to determine which of the two benefits (or combo) Overbridge should add. 3. Research Questions – The first THREE research questions are from the primary research. Do not reinvent the wheel – take the questions from the survey that is in Module 10. The next two or three (or more) research questions will be based on your secondary research. That could be info on benefits of each or info on what other companies are successfully offering. What are the broadest questions that will give you the information you need? 4. Methodology – The first paragraph will be the primary research from the survey. You make take the info verbatim from the survey. Do not get into specifics, you want the broad overview of how the survey was conducted. (Detail on what employees preferred goes into the final report, not here). The second and/or third paragraph(s) will offer info on your methodology for your secondary research. IMPORTANT: The secondary research questions should be the type of questions you’d ask to get the information you need to eventually make a recommendation on which benefit is best to implement. Make sure they’re broad enough to be useful otherwise you’re asking questions that will give you data, but not enough to make an informed decision. Don't focus on the gender of the respondents or their age -- it makes no difference outside of using it for survey data in the report. This is how it will work: 1. Researching Reports – I have graded these with comments. Put your efforts into the PowerPoint. (If your grade was low on Researching Reports, and you want to revise it, that’s fine too). 2. PowerPoint – Take the feedback I provided on your Researching Reports, edit your PowerPoint with the new information, and resubmit. I’ll give you till November 13, 2017 to revise the PowerPoint. If my comments don’t apply to your PowerPoint, no need to resubmit. It is imperative that you get this right now, because your final project will sink without this base. Scenario: Pat Overbridge, the CEO of Overbridge LLC, will implement a new employee benefit in 2018 to supplement the current benefits package. Currently, all full time employees receive health care coverage, dental coverage and the option to contribute to a 401k plan. The following new benefits are currently under consideration: 1) Wellness Program: A program in which Overbridge LLC would provide employees with options to maintain a healthier life style (i.e. personal coaches, gym memberships, etc.) in exchange for a reduced health care premium. The reduced premium would only occur if the lifestyle change was documented (i.e. personal coach validation or proof of gym use), or 2) Paid Family Medical Leave Benefit: A program in which qualified employees would be provided with up to 12 weeks of paid, job-protected leave per year. Currently, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requires 12 weeks of unpaid job-protected leave per year. See the following link for more information on FMLA: (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. The Human Resources Department conducted a survey to collect primary data from employees regarding their preferences for the new benefit options. The results of the survey are provided within the Module. The primary data supplied in the survey is the only primary data you should use in your report! Do not spend time making up imaginary surveys or interviews. Instead, spend your time doing credible secondary research. Mr. Overbridge asked you to evaluate the survey data (primary data) and supplement these data with outside research (secondary sources) that would help him determine which benefit option he will implement. The secondary sources should include credible data from third party researchers or from companies that have implemented similar benefit practices. Well-thought out arguments for and against the option you choose to research are required. Mr. Overbridge also expects your recommendations to reflect the research and data presented in the report. Personal opinions are irrelevant. Researching Report Assignment: During finals week, you are required to submit a 7-10 page, well-researched analytical business report on benefit options (see final Module). The scenario is provided in the last module, so please read ALL of the materials in the last module, first! This week's Canvas assignment (Researching Reports) covers the vital first steps in report writing. If the problem statement, purpose statement, and research questions are poorly written in the initial stages of research (i.e. to vague, too broad), then your report will likely reflect the problems. Directions: 1) Read the Final Analytical Business Report Instructions in the last Module before going to step 2. You must orient yourself to the overall final deliverable first. 2) Based on the given scenario, think about what problem you are attempting to help your audience, the CEO, solve. Now write your problem statement. · Note: The Problem Statement is the overall question you want to answer in your report. Many students prefer to phrase the problem statement as a question, but you may make it a declarative statement if you wish. 3.) Next, write your purpose statement. · Note: The Purpose Statement is mainly a restatement of the problem, written as a goal statement. 4.) Write at least four (4) research questions. · You should create 1-2 questions that can be answered by the primary research provided via the survey results in Module 10. Be sure to review the survey results for hints on what types of research question to ask related to the primary research. · You should create 2-3 questions that can be answered by secondary research. · The Research Questions in an analytical business report serve as a guide for the entire report. Your research is conducted to answer the questions, which when answered will solve the stated problem (problem statement). · The research questions should be answered using BOTH primary and secondary sources, which you will cite in the report. Human Resources has already provided primary data for you in the form of an employee survey (see the last Module). Over the next week or two, you will perform secondary research (i.e. peer-reviewed journal articles, government surveys evaluating the pros and cons of the stated benefit programs) to provide additional credibility to your report. 5.) Write a draft methodology section. The methodology section should describe how primary data (i.e. the employee survey) was conducted and a rationale for identifying secondary sources (i.e. peer reviewed journal articles). Be specific; stating on what will perform an online search is not specific enough. Assignment Example: You May Use the Example Below for Guidance Written below is an example of what you would submit for this assignment. The scenario for this example is that Acme Hay wants to purchase a new fleet of trucks. Research is necessary to determine whether to purchase Ford, Dodge, or Chevy trucks for its fleet. The problem and purpose statement examples, as well as the research questions, are based on that scenario. Note that the headings are differentiated (bolded) from the main text an all major words in the headings are capitalized. Problem Statement Should Acme Hay purchase Ford, Dodge, or Chevy trucks for its fleet of trucks? Purpose Statement The purpose of this report is to determine what brand of truck – Ford, Dodge, or Chevy – Acme Hay should purchase for its fleet of trucks. Research Questions 1. Which trucks would employees prefer to drive? 2. What are the costs of the Ford, Dodge, and Chevy trucks? 3. What are the safety features of each brand of truck? 4. What are the evaluations of each brand of truck according to Consumer Reports and Car and Driver ? Methodology An anonymous employee survey (Appendix A) was conducted to assess employee preferences for truck brands. Of the 100 employees, 85 responded to all the questions in the survey. Incomplete surveys were not used in the data analysis. The dealership websites of Ford, Dodge and Chevy were investigated to obtain an average cost for each type of vehicle. Select dealerships were contacted by phone to assess if a discount was available in exchange for a bulk purchase of vehicles. The safety features were evaluated using specified automotive journals and third party assessments. Both Consumer Reports and Driver provided information on the safety and brand evaluations for each brand of truck. Finally, a weighted checklist of employee truck preference, safety record and brand evaluation was created to assist with data evaluation. Paper For Above instruction
The escalating need for strategic employee benefits has become a pivotal aspect of organizational management, aiming not only to attract and retain talent but also to enhance overall productivity and employee well-being. In the context of Overbridge LLC, the decision to add new benefits involves careful deliberation based on employee preferences and external industry standards. This report investigates two primary benefit options under consideration: a wellness program and paid family medical leave (FMLA), along with a potential combination of both. The key question guiding this analysis is: which benefit or combination will best meet employee needs while providing organizational value? To address this, primary research will be conducted via a detailed employee survey, complemented by secondary research including industry reports, peer-reviewed articles, and case studies of similar implementations in other companies.
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the preferences and perceptions of employees regarding the addition of a wellness program and paid family medical leave to Overbridge LLC's benefits package, with the goal of determining which option aligns best with employee expectations and organizational goals. It aims to provide evidence-based recommendations that support informed decision-making for executive leadership. The core research questions center on employee preferences, perceived helpfulness of each program, factors influencing their choice, and broader industry insights into benefits effectiveness and trends.
Specifically, the primary research will utilize data collected from an employee survey distributed to 2000 staff members, with approximately 1345 responses received. This survey examined employee preferences between the proposed benefit options, as well as detailed activities associated with wellness programs such as gym memberships, nutrition plans, and stress management seminars. Secondary research will involve reviewing academic journals, government reports, and industry case studies to understand the broader impacts of each benefit, including return on investment, employee satisfaction, and organizational productivity. This combined approach aims to formulate a comprehensive understanding of the benefits landscape and inform the recommendation process.
