In 2019, estimates suggested that the total infrastructure costs—including parking, stormwater management, amenities such as a water feature, tennis center, and gym—could total around $13.5 million. Despite plans for such a major upgrade, actual investment and construction activity have been minimal, with some initial grading work being completed using leftover funds from an earlier SPLOST. Furthermore, the area currently exists as little more than a red clay lot with a pond and nothing else, as erosion and lack of maintenance have caused previous grading efforts to deteriorate.

The planned sports complex is geographically ill-suited for the modest, small-scale community needs of the Cassville area and is redundant given the prominence of LakePoint Sporting Complex located south of Cartersville. LakePoint remains a major sports destination capable of attracting thousands of visitors and supporting local hospitality industries, making further large-scale sports development in Hamilton Crossing unnecessary. In essence, expanding Hamilton Crossing into a regional sports hub would be an inefficient use of resources, duplicating efforts in an area already served by a larger, more established complex.

Instead of attempting to turn Hamilton Crossing into a competing regional sports destination, the project could be scaled down to serve local residents better.
